Fun facts: In the ancient folklore of South America, anteaters are often depicted as mystical tricksters – sometimes as sky-dwelling deities that command inclement weather. When Europeans first encountered these New World creatures in the 1700s, it was believed that they were exclusively female, and that they mated with their own tongues. The Great Anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) has one of the lowest body temperatures among terrestrial mammals.
A portion of proceeds from sales goes to Fridays for Future, a youth-led and youth-organised global climate strike movement founded by Greta Thunberg that aims to put moral pressure on policymakers worldwide to take forceful action to address the climate crisis.
